It might be a very rainy Wednesday across South Wales but that hasn’t stopped our team of amazing volunteers from getting packed lunches and hot meals to kids right across Swansea East.
Our sandwich team have been working really hard this morning at HQ to prepare today’s packed lunches. This week alone, we’re supplying around 1,100 packed lunches to clubs and community groups across the constituency and that’s before we even get started on the hot meals!
Of course, this increasing demand means that we’d still really welcome any and all donations of food to help with our efforts. I’ve been truly gobsmacked by the sheer number of people who have donated so far and I would like to thank each and every one of you for helping to ensure no child goes without this summer. I’ve included a list of items we’re looking for in terms of donations at the bottom of today’s diary entry. Any donations will be gratefully received at my constituency office. Hot dogs in particular have been in high demand this week, so if you were able to add a tin or two of these to your weekly shop, we’d really appreciate it.
It’s been great this week to have so many volunteers helping out: whether it be by making sandwiches, delivering packed lunches or cooking up our hot meals, the support we’ve received has been truly humbling. It was also fantastic to have our local Assembly Member, Mike Hedges, come along to lend a hand this week. A special thanks also in particular this week to our team at Sandwich HQ: Caroline Rees, Geraldine Buckley, Norma Glass, Ffion Price, and Claude and Julieann from Coastal Housing. Our Sandwich HQ is, of course, the Boss Brewing Company. Without the help of so many local organisations, we simply wouldn’t be able to cater for the amount of kids that we have this year.
Right, I’d better dash and get ready for tomorrow’s clubs – here’s hoping for some brighter weather tomorrow!
