We’ve just served the last dinner of this week’s of Kids Lunch Clubs, and once again I’m staggered by the sheer number of meals we’ve been able to serve this week. Between all of our lunch clubs, and the packed lunch deliveries we’ve been making, we’ve served a whopping 1,210 meals! Around two thirds of these were hot meals served at our lunch clubs which is fantastic.
Once again, I’m in awe at quite how many local businesses and residents continued to come forward and help with our efforts. It really wouldn’t be possible without your support.
I’ve been working alongside our growing team of volunteers, preparing and serving the meals that make such a difference. Our lunch clubs at Jersey Park Pavilion and in Blaenymaes have been particularly busy this week, and it’s been great to see so many kids coming out with their families to enjoy a cooked meal in the summer sunshine.
And next week is set to be even busier! We’ve got over 1,000 packed lunches on order alone, and I think it’s very likely we’ll hit the 2,000 meals next week. This is amazing, especially considering the modest ambitions I had when we launched the lunch clubs a few years back.
Of course, the more lunches we can serve the better – bt this increased demand means we’re still on the look out for more donations. If you’re able to make a food donation, big or small, please do pop by to my constituency office with any of the following:
Hot dog sausages
Tinned corned beef
Jars of mild curry sauce
As ever, I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who is supporting this important work. Together, we really are helping to ensure parents have one less thing to worry about during the long school holidays.
I hope you all have a fantastic weekend! x
