Carolyn Harris MP has been elected as chair of APPG State Pension Inequality for Women.
Carolyn has served as vice chair since the group was formed in May 2016.
The group’s aim is to provide a cross-party forum in which to hold the government to account on the issue of transitional arrangements to compensate 1950s-born women who are affected by changes to the state pension age and to campaign on issues around the state pension age.
Carolyn Harris, MP for Swansea East said “I am delighted to be elected as chair of the APPG for a cause I care so deeply about”.
“Women born in the 1950s have been dealt a great injustice by the 1995 and 2011 Pension Acts. MPs from every parliamentary party have come together to ensure we hold the Government to account by working alongside all 1950s women”.
“I look forward to my new role and encourage all those affected by the 1995 and 2011 Acts to get in touch with their MP encouraging them to support our cause”.
