Swansea East MP, Carolyn Harris, has today been named Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities in Labour’s shadow cabinet reshuffle.
Carolyn Harris, MP for Swansea East, said:
“I’m thrilled to have been appointed Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities.
“As someone who has long campaigned against pension inequality for 1950s born women, I am looking forward to joining a team that share the same passion for women’s rights.”
Jeremy Corbyn, Leader of the Labour Party, said:
“I am delighted to welcome Swansea East’s Carolyn Harris to Labour’s shadow women and equalities team.
“As a dedicated campaigner for causes ranging from compensation for the WASPI women who have been unfairly hit by the raise in the state pension age to government funding for child funerals, I know she will continue to be an asset to our frontbench team.”
Carolyn wasn’t the only Welsh MP to have been given a front bench position today;
Home Affairs – Nick Thomas Symonds
Defence – Gerald Jones
